Our
Story
For Miriam and Howard Goldfeder, food has always been about family, community, and tradition. The Dallas-based couple, parents to Eli, Nechama, and Shlomo, arrived in Texas in 2000 and quickly became pillars of the local Jewish community through their innovative approach to kosher cuisine and their deep commitment to service.
Howard's 36-year journey in the kosher food industry began humbly in Baltimore as a Dishwasher, then line cook. He then moved and started entrepreneurship with Texas Kosher BBQ, a beloved food truck and catering service that became a community staple. Miriam's warmth and business acumen complemented Howard's culinary vision, creating a partnership that would eventually grow into the Gourmet Palate we know today.
In 2018, they expanded their vision with Kosher Palate, an innovative space combining a sit-down deli, full kosher grocery, and event venue. Howard described their approach as "Southern Heimish," kosher comfort food with a genuine Texas twist that made everyone feel at home. They continued to evolve and innovate with Gourmet Palate and in 2024 brought in renowned Chef Jeffery Kollinger to further elevate their offerings.
Their most recent venture, Moe's BBQ & Grill, represents a return to their roots, a pop-up concept that brings their signature Texas-style kosher barbecue directly to the community in new and exciting formats.
But what truly sets the Goldfeders apart is their profound commitment to chesed, acts of kindness. Whether providing weekly groceries to families in need, driving pallets of food to hurricane victims, or founding the Texas Jewish Community Response nonprofit, Miriam and Howard have consistently put community at the center of their business.
"We see our work as a privilege," says Miriam. "Being invited to help families celebrate their most important moments, that is what drives us every day."
Howard adds, "After 27 years in this business, I still get excited about creating memorable experiences through food. From our early days with the food truck to now catering major events, the constant has been our amazing community and the relationships we have built."
Through every evolution of their business, from food truck to market to premier catering company, the Goldfeders have remained true to their core values: excellence in kosher cuisine, innovation in service, and an unwavering dedication to the community they call home.
